How To Iron A Quilt
We get his question all the time! Most quilters have their beloved quilts around the house that have been slept on, sat on or walked on for many years and now need a freshen up.
After researching this subjuect we have come up with several tips to get you started when looking to press your quilt.
It’s a great idea to try to find out what type of fabric the quilt is made of. If yor quilt is made of sensitive materials or synthetics, it is a good idea to place a sheet over the quilt while ironing. this helps to stop the fabric sticking to the iron.
A hotter iron is preferred to make ironing easier however make sure you turn the iron down when ironing synthetic fabrics.
Also, a dry iron is preferred when ironing a quilt. When using a steam iron, the batting can become wet/damp and take a while to properly dry.
What we suggest, is using a small spray bottle of water to use at your discretion wjhen ironing.
